By placing an order through the General Oligo Configurator or otherwise providing information to us, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this policy.

1.2 Order and Configuration Data

We collect the full details of each order placed through the Configurator, including:

• Oligonucleotide sequences submitted for synthesis
• Modification types, synthesis scale, formulation, and other configuration selections
• Order pricing and payment confirmation records (we do not store full credit card numbers)
• Order status and fulfillment history

1.3 Technical Information

We may collect basic technical information when you visit our site, such as browser type, operating system, and referring URL, for the purpose of maintaining site functionality and security. We do not currently use third-party analytics services, though we reserve the right to do so in the future. If and when we introduce analytics tools, this policy will be updated to reflect that change.

2. How We Use Your Information

General Oligo uses the information we collect for the following purposes:

• Order fulfillment — to process, synthesize, and ship your order
• Order communications — to send you order confirmations, synthesis status updates, shipping notifications, and any follow-up required to complete your order

3. Sequence Confidentiality

We understand that oligonucleotide sequences submitted for synthesis may represent sensitive scientific or proprietary research. General Oligo treats all submitted sequences as confidential information. Specifically:

• Sequence data will not be disclosed to any third party except as required by law or as necessary to fulfill your order (e.g., internal synthesis personnel)
• Sequence data will not be used for General Oligo’s own internal research or product development
• Sequence data will not be published, shared, or referenced in any external communication without your express written consent

All sequence submissions are subject to biosecurity screening. General Oligo reserves the right to flag and decline to synthesize any sequence that presents a potential biosecurity concern, in accordance with applicable law and industry guidelines. Such screening does not constitute disclosure of your sequence to any third party.

4. Data Sharing

General Oligo does not share your personal information or order data with third parties for marketing, advertising, or commercial purposes. Limited data sharing may occur only in the following circumstances:

• Payment processing — your payment information is transmitted to our third-party payment processor to complete your transaction. We do not store full credit card numbers on our servers.
• Shipping carriers — your name and shipping address will be shared with the carrier responsible for delivering your order.
• Legal obligations — we may disclose information if required by law, court order, or governmental authority, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of General Oligo, our customers, or the public.

5. Data Retention

General Oligo retains order records — including customer contact information, configuration details, sequence data, and payment confirmation records — indefinitely for internal recordkeeping, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and customer service purposes.

Please note that certain records may be required to be retained regardless of a deletion request to satisfy legal or regulatory obligations.

6. Data Security

General Oligo takes reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information and order data against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. These measures include:

• Secure transmission of data over HTTPS
• Access controls limiting data access to authorized personnel only
• Secure storage of order and sequence data on protected servers
• No storage of full payment card numbers on General Oligo systems

No method of data transmission or storage is completely secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security. In the event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you as required by applicable law.

7. Email Communications

By placing an order, you consent to receive transactional emails from General Oligo related to your order, including:

• Synthesis status updates
• Shipping notifications
• Follow-up communications regarding your specific order requirements

We do not currently send marketing or promotional emails. If we introduce a marketing email program in the future, you will be given the opportunity to opt in separately, and this policy will be updated accordingly.
